Thank you Gina. Happy hogmanay to you and all the best for '08.
Btw sincere thanks go out to you, AshesRising, Arbuthnot, Ganges, Mickmac, Robthewordsmith, GhostofPig, Tigerbolt, William Tell, SomeDarkHollow, Direwolf0701 and all the guys for helping make this a healing place to be since the loss of my mother and my best friend just over a year ago.
Some of us might be singing some of this tonight so here are the words:

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o thine,
And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne

Words adapted from a traditional song by Robert Burns (1759-96)

auld lang syne - times gone by
be - pay for
braes - hills
braid - broad
burn - stream
dine - dinner time
fiere - friend
fit - foot
gowans - daisies
guid-willie waught - goodwill drink
monie - many
paidl't - paddled
pint-stowp - pint tankard
pou'd - pulled

Amen to the staying in. I'm cooking the missus a meal that can't be had without spending too much in a pretentious restaurant, then celebrating with a handful of friends within walking distance.

Have a Great Flight Around the Sun in 2008, everyone.

Happy New Year everybody! I'm busy listening to vintage Grateful Dead 12/31 shows from my stash. Always liked those 71 and 72 shows; so these will get me through the night. Gonna save my Winterland DVDs for the 20th anniversary next year...

Happpy New Year....
Was anybody at the NewYearsEve 1968 show?

The archives list the wrong bands.

It was my first time at the Winterland; the night opened with Hot Tuna, closed with Jefferson Airplane at dawn. I'm trying to find out what happened in between.

I kinda remember the QMS and GD sets. I'm pretty sure NRPS did a set, and perhaps the Sons.

Must have been the orange juice.

Anybody with a clear recollection????

I first heard that from Artie my fishing boat captain back in the '80s. We always left dock a day or two after Christmas and would be off Cape Hatteras long line fishing for Swordfish every New Year. At least we always came in for Christmas. We did, however, spend most Thanksgivings on the Ocean.

Happy New Year all!!
